The ezTrap Optimist course is compliant with the Opti Worlds (IODA) courses that have been used in recent years. The course (shown to the left) has 4-legs where the first three are the same length, and the 4th upwind finish leg is adjustable between 50-150% of the fixed leg lengths. A recent addition (v13.6) is a separate 90° finish leg, which is compliant with the US Optimist Dinghy Association (USODA) course.
The ezTrap Optimist course (IODA) supports one fleet with input parameters such as boat LOA, Average Speeds, and Tacking Angle. ezTrap automatically adjusts the course length to meet the Target Race Time of the fleet. The USODA course has an additional parameter specifying the offset distance to the finish line.
ezTrap works with one spreadsheet tab per course - an adjacent tab contains a summary of notes about the course. For detailed information about these courses and others, please download the User's Manual.
Here's an example of an Optimist Worlds Course set off Cape Town, SA. Note that ezTrap allows the finish to be set upwind or downwind of Mark 2.
