ezTrap Courses

Trapezoid W/L Optimist Yacht Club RSX Slalom Triangle Lipton Cup ezTrap Triangle Course Plot

The Triangle family of ezTrap courses contains 3-variations of equilateral triangle courses that support two 5-leg courses with a finish at the start line, and a 6-leg course with an upwind finish above Mark 1.

Further, the Lipton Cup series supports 1, 2 or 3-rounds of an equilateral triangle course (Lipton "T"), and a 9-leg isosceles course (Lipton "O").

A recent addition supports the 505 Worlds course with two variations; a 7-leg triangle course with a downwind finish or an 8-leg triangle course with an upwind finish. Also supported are a mid-point Line start or Gate ("Rabbit") start.

All ezTrap triangle courses support one fleet with input parameters such as boat LOA, Average Speeds, and Tacking Angles. ezTrap automatically adjusts the course length to meet the Target Race Times of each fleet.

ezTrap works with one spreadsheet tab per course - an adjacent tab contains a summary of notes about the course. For detailed information about these courses and others, please download the User's Manual.

Here's an example of a classic Triangle Course set for Lasers in Wellington Harbour, NZ. The RO enters the input values in the shaded boxes, and all the rest of the calculations are automatic.
